Why we started
Atelier Nord began in 2016 at a single cutting table in Lisbon. We wanted clothes that would still be worth wearing in ten years, and we could not find enough of them.
So we started making them: from natural fibres, in small batches, with the details that make a garment last — linked collars, canvassed fronts, corozo and horn buttons, seams that can be let out and mended.
Today we are eleven people. We still cut every piece in the same studio, and we still know the names of the people who weave our cloth.

The cloth
From mills we know by name
Our wool comes from a mill in the Serra da Estrela that has spun since 1951, our linen from Flanders, our waxed cotton from Scotland. We visit every one of them, and we buy only what we will use.
